How to Fix Column Mismatches When Sharing Items Across Boards

You shared an item to another board, made updates, but found the data didn’t sync because the columns had different names or types. For example, a status column might be called “Status 1” on Board A and “Status” on Board B, preventing synchronization.

Resolution Options

Option 1: Use the "Same Item Multiple Boards" Board View

  1. Open the board where the item originated.
  2. Add a new board view:
    • Click "Add View".
    • Go to "Apps" and select "Explore more apps".
    • Search for "Same Item in Multiple Boards".
  1. Use the view to:
    • Filter by discrepancies.
    • Review the mismatch for each item.
    • Click "Sync to latest value" for each item to manually resolve the mismatch.
This method allows you to fix items one by one without removing them.

Option 2: Remove and Re-add Items After Fixing Column Names

If you want a cleaner slate:

  1. Check Sync Settings:
    • In the app settings, disable the option: “Sync item deletion across boards”.
    • This ensures items deleted from one board won’t be removed from all boards.
  1. Delete Items from the Affected Board:
    • Go to the board with mismatched columns.
    • Select and delete the shared items.
  1. Ensure Column Names Match:
    • Verify that columns on both boards have the same names and types.
  1. Re-add the Items:
    • Select the original items.
    • Open the "Same Item Multiple Boards" app.
    • Choose the correct board and group to re-share the items.

This ensures all data is synced properly using aligned column names.
