🧩 How to Fix Column Mismatches When Sharing Items Across Boards (Updated)

Sometimes, when you share an item from one board to another, the updates don’t sync.

This usually happens because the column names or types are different between the two boards.

🧠 Example:

On Board A, your column might be called “Status”, but on Board B it’s called “Status 1”.

Since the names don’t match, the information won’t update between boards.

No worries — here are two ways to get everything syncing again 👇

✅ Option 1: Match Column Names and Types First

(Most common fix)

Before troubleshooting, make sure both boards are truly aligned.

If the columns have different names or types, SIMB won’t recognize them as the same field — so updates won’t sync.

Steps:

1️⃣ Open both boards side by side.

2️⃣ Check that each column (e.g. Status, Date, Text) has the exact same name and column type.

3️⃣ Rename or adjust any column that doesn’t match.

4️⃣ Once both boards are aligned, go back to your original board and re-share the items through the Same Item Multiple Boards app.

💡 Tip: If you had already shared items before fixing the names, delete the old ones first.

To do that safely:

• Go to your app’s Settings → toggle off “Sync item deletion across boards.”

• Delete the mismatched items → re-share them once columns match.

🔍 Option 2: Review Discrepancies in SIMB View

(For minor sync issues after setup)

If your boards already have matching columns but some data still doesn’t sync, you can use the Discrepancies filter inside the SIMB view to identify and fix mismatches.

Steps:

1️⃣ Open the board where the item was originally created.

2️⃣ Click “Add View” → “Apps” → “Explore more apps.”

3️⃣ Search for Same Item Multiple Boards and add it.

4️⃣ In the SIMB view, open the dropdown menu.

5️⃣ Select “Discrepancies.”

6️⃣ Expand an item to see the specific values that differ between boards.

7️⃣ Click “Sync to latest value” to align them.

💡 Tip: This method is ideal for fine-tuning — once your boards are properly configured, it helps keep everything perfectly in sync.
