🔧 Troubleshooting: “You don’t have permission to duplicate pulses”

âť— The Error

When using Same Item Multiple Boards (SIMB), you might see the following error:

“You don’t have permission to duplicate pulses.”

This means monday.com blocked the action due to a permissions issue.

🤔 Why This Happens

When SIMB adds an item to another board, it duplicates the item from the source board to the destination board behind the scenes.

monday.com enforces board-level permissions. If the user (or automation owner) does not have permission to create items on the destination board, monday.com prevents the duplication and shows this error.

In simple terms:

👉 You’re trying to add an item to a board where you’re not allowed to create items.

âś… How to Fix It

Ask a board admin to grant item-creation permissions:

  1. Open the destination board
  2. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top-right corner
  3. Go to Board permissions or Board settings
  4. Make sure the affected user can create items
  5. Save the changes

Option 2: Change the Automation Owner

If you’re using an automation, SIMB runs actions using the automation owner’s permissions.

If the owner lacks permission on the destination board, the action will fail.

To fix this:

  1. Open the board where the automation is set
  2. Go to Automations / Integrations
  3. Locate the SIMB automation
  4. Change the automation owner to a user who has permission to create items on the destination board (usually an admin)
  5. Save

Option 3: Have an Admin Perform the Action

If permissions can’t be changed, ask a board admin or owner to add the item on your behalf.
